Run for the Cure

Sunday October 1st-The Run for the Cure.
My first fundraising event as Team Leader. We had 14 members on our team "The Waves". Three of us ran, Mike, Wanda and I. Everyone else walked the 1k or 5k route. What you can't see behind us are the other 7000 people who were there to support the Breast Cancer cause. It was an inspirational day.
This was suppose to be my last run for the year but when we got home we were so psyched out that we went online and found a race for December 31st at 5pm for 5k called the Resolution run. I could count it as the first run for the year or the last one of 2006. Either way I know now that I have the running bug. The kids are in on it too. This race was Daniel and Meaghan's first. Now they want to know when their next one is. They totally loved going door to door asking for donations. I thought that they would shy away from this but when people started giving them whatever coin they had, the kids got sooo excited. They really got it...that the money was going to help save someone's life. Maybe this will be a family affair now.
So remember to check out your breasts and keep an eye on your friends too. Remind mothers, daughter, aunts and grandmothers to do their check-ups monthly. Make Breast Cancer History!
